holidays: round 2 part 1

well, we are back from a nice little vacay (more on that later).
we hope everyone had a great christmas and stayed safe and healthy. we've been battling some sick bugs, but we're all hanging in there.

so here is our holiday recap.

christmas morning matt and i awoke to the sound of presents being ripped into. or rather matt woke up to the sound of shredding paper, i woke up to the ripping and paper and matt running down the stairs. i let out a groaning, "nooooooooo!".
so, needless to say we missed henry opening his first gift which was a box of batman stickers. i heard matt ask henry, "who came?" to which henry replied, "batman". and that is how our morning began.

bea slept through the entire affair, sweet girl. and henry just had a good ol' time. this was the first time he was really able to open the gifts without much help. he is very particular and has to make sure every piece of paper is removed from the item. it was a little slow going. especially when he took several breaks to eat his breakfast which consisted of a candy cane (of which he'd been eyeing at the top of the tree for weeks) and the apple that was in his stocking. still it was so much fun watching him open his gifts from 'christmas claus' and play with them immediately. each and every thing.








after playing for a while we headed over to mimi's house for more giving, receiving, and of course, eating. mimi spoiled all of us, especially henry and bea! toys, games, and clothes galore for those two! and amaya gave henry her old pirate hat which has seldom been removed from his head since. i received a well stocked library of sewing and crafting books, matt scored with some great art books, and from amanda for all of us, the planet earth dvd set, which we are anxious to watch. thank you to both you!

that evening we returned home and scrambled to pack up for a week in florida spent with grandma and grandpa, uncle rick and megan. stay tuned for those adventures!
